THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE & AFTER YOUR FIRST

call me..

call me..

Before making an appointment, ask for a free phone consultation:

  • During this free call:

    • We establish what area you need assistance on.

    • I go through the procedure of what happens during a session.

    • I will ask you if you have read and understood all the information on this website relevant to the aspect you require.

    • I ask for your contact information.

    • I give you my full address.

    • We make the booking.

    • I confirm my price list for my services. My charges are £70 per one hour session. Concessions are available for long-term clients.

    • I accept NHS referrals.

General Information:

  • I offer this free phone consultation service to every future client. Take advantage of this and ask any preliminary questions you may have.

  • It is during this conversation when we set the boundaries as to whether I am allowed to ask you anything that I feel is necessary to facilitate a long term successful therapeutic outcome.

  • There will be some occasions where I may have to say that I am not the right or appropriate therapist for you and may refer you to a different practitioner if I deem appropriate.

  • If you are on any medications that you think influence your daily thinking abilities, you will have to let me know.

..no...

..no...

You may feel uncomfortable at times:

  • Sometimes you will feel very excited about going to therapy, and other times you will loathe it. You will feel uncomfortable at times, but this is part of the process in you getting you to a space where you want to be.

..oh, wow..

..oh, wow..

Ask me what progress might look like, and how often you should check in to gauge that progress (post appointment/session information):

  • After we start the consultations, talk to me about how you think you are making progress (both inside and outside each consultation),

  • See how you are feeling and write down and take note of any changes ,

  • Ask me if I have noticed any changes in you (since we don’t always see shifts in ourselves). This is your way of keeping a check on my observations of you.

  • These “check-ins" will help you stay motivated and develop short term goals to work on.

..well, yes, I want to say, but..

..well, yes, I want to say, but..

Know that you don’t have to go into each session with a big issue to discuss:

  • Sometimes the sessions when you think you have nothing to talk about lead to the biggest breakthroughs. This is especially true when we tend to avoid talking about the bigger issues. Having an agreed open agenda gives you the opportunity to talk about a variety of things going on in your life, where there is something you really did want to talk about.

..well actually,..

..well actually,..

Know that you can (and should) speak up if you disagree with my approach:

  • Therapy should be a ‘safe space’ for you. If I have annoyed you, if you disagree with me, if you don’t understand something, or if you feel fearful of what I will say in response to you, you can be assured that before any sessions begin, I will appreciate all feedback from you.
